STRUGGLING TO FIND AN AUTHENTIC MANCUNIAN VOICE?

As a nod to their Manchester heritage, you can hear my voice introducing The Guardian Podcasts. I’ve also recorded projects for big northern brands such as The Co-Operative Bank, The University of Manchester, United Utilities and Transport for Greater Manchester.

A NATURAL LANCASHIRE LILT?

My warm, conversational and empathic voice means I’m booked regularly for the NHS, healthcare and charities, so much so, I’m nicknamed ‘northern nursey’ by my voiceover colleagues! You might have heard my Lancashire tones on Channel 4 and More 4 as one of their continuity announcers. If you check out the TV series The Antiques Yard, you’ll hear me narrating it. Gone through the mortgage process online with Halifax or The Royal Bank of Scotland? I’ve talked you through it. Do you have a kid in high school that uses BBC Bitesize? I’m the one trying to convince them that hey, science is fun!

OR A SUBTLE SCOUSE READ?

I was born in Wigan and although my natural accent is, strictly speaking, Lancashire (or Greater Manchester, depending on which side of the argument you’re on) I’ve recorded many voiceover projects in a Scouse accent as it comes extremely naturally to me. My in-laws are all from Liverpool! Easyjet, Merseyrail, John Lennon Airport, Shop Direct and the NHS have all booked me for an authentic Scouse read. Do you like True Crime podcasts? Me too. Check out BBC Radio 5 Live's Manhunt: Finding Kevin Parle, currently streaming on BBC Sounds, where I play a variety of gritty Liverpool characters. My performance got me nominated for a One Voice Award for Best Radio Drama in 2020.

OR MAYBE A DIANE MORGAN (PHILOMENA CUNK) SOUND-A-LIKE?

I seem to have become the go-to voice when Diane Morgan (Philomena Cunk) isn't available. I’ve recreated her dead-pan Boltonian tones on quite a few projects from TV to online games.

STILL NOT SURE AND NEED A QUICK DEMO?

No problem. If you’d like to test the sound quality of my studio or get a feel for my voice, send me a script sample and I’d be happy to demo it up for free.

VOICEOVER TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

RADIO IS MY HOMEBOY…

I’m an experienced, multi-award nominated Voiceover. But where did it all start? I fell in love with voiceover and voice acting during my 10 years in the Radio industry with Global, Bauer and The Wireless Group. I started off selling, then writing and then voicing radio ads. Having worked on both sides of the creative coin in a script writing and voiceover capacity, commercial delivery comes naturally to me. I understand the creative process - the importance of impeccable sight reading, taking direction and interpreting copy effectively, to deliver honest and believable voiceover that cuts through the noise.

I studied English and Drama at University and continue to hone my craft with ActUPNorth and Gravy for the Brain. I’ve also had world class coaching from the fabulous Nicola Redman, Marc Scott and Justine Harris.

So what are you waiting for? Get in touch today and let me show you how I can turn your words into colourful, compelling pieces of audio.
